2nd Chinese Education Internet Teaching Seminar   [14.06.2020]

On 9th June 2020, Mrs. Zhimin SUN, Director of our school responsible for teaching, represented CIG at the 2nd Chinese Education Internet Teaching Seminar. This conference was hosted by the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China and was held in the form of a video conference. A total of 39 representatives from 32 Chinese schools in 24 countries participated in the conference, together with experts and scholars from China in the field of Chinese education internet teaching.

Mr. Yang ZHAO, Chairman of the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, made a video recording for the conference. He expressed thanks to the teachers and students of overseas Chinese schools for their support in the fight against the epidemic in China. He hoped that the participants would have in-depth exchanges, exploring solutions to the difficulties faced by overseas Chinese schools during the epidemic and solutions for sustainable development after the outbreak.

Since the participants came from different time zones, the conference was chaired respectively by Mr. Xiao YU, Secretary General of the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, and Mrs. Xiaomei LI, Project Director of the foundation. The seminar was opened up to public by live broadcast, and a total of more than 30,000 persons scanned the code to watch the meeting.

The participants discussed topics such as the development of Chinese education in the 5G background, the impact of COVID-19 epidemic on Chinese education as well as corresponding solutions, and the coordinated development of online teaching and classroom teaching, etc. CIG Director Mrs. Zhimin SUN introduced CIG's countermeasures during the epidemic and network teaching. In the Swiss epidemic situation, CIG decided to continue online classes until the end of this semester. The special circumstances have also provided us with new ideas. We have actively taken measures, in the way that our teachers quickly adopted a live webcast method to interact with students. Mrs. Sun emphasized that internet teaching would not completely replace classroom teaching, especially for non-native students, because they would have a greater need for direct communications with teachers and classmates. However, students could also open up their horizons through new methods and teaching diversification.

CIG already participated in the online course provided by the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China before the epidemic, and achieved big success.

Mrs. Sun extended thanks to Director Xiaomei LI and the team of the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China for inviting CIG to attend the conference, and also sincerely thanked the teachers of Beijing No. 4 Middle School for organizing a variety of training courses for our teachers, from epidemic knowledge to teaching methods. She highlighted the long-distance teacher training, the demonstration network class as well as the on-site live classrooms, which have brought great and timely learning opportunities for our students. Our thanks also go to Beijing No. 4 Middle School teachers Ying ZHAI, Mengwei WANG and their teams. We highly appreciate their responsible and dedicated working attitude.
